CRM's Most Asked Questions

If your company is ready to take the plunge and start using CRM for customer retention then there are sure to be some questions you and your employees should consider to help you get the most out of the options that are available too you. Here are some of the most frequently asked questions by businesses who want to know more about CRM.

Why do I need CRM?

Business can make use of CRM technology in order to put into place best practices for dealing with customers. CRM also offers businesses a way to cut down on technology costs, since information can be managed through one system. Making CRM a great way of reducing costs for a startup without much money budgeted towards technology products or for more established businesses hit hard by changes in the job market. CRM can be used for many areas of how you interact with your customers and how you interact with your employees, including accounting and compiling demographics for customers and schedule management for customers.

How long does it take to get a CRM solution in place?

CRM can be done relatively quickly when going with a web-based solution in some cases as little as one month. However, customized approaches can take a long time to get set up. Especially if using an IT department and building CRM around specific needs of your industry. For companies that choose this approach the benefits are usually well worth it. The more complex the platform the longer it will take and the higher the final price tag. For some industries, software packages offer an approach that can provide some customization but saves time on planning and incorporating a fully customized solution. Besides the approach, used employees typically have to be trained on how to use CRM slowing down the process even further.

What is the startup price for CRM?

Some CRM programs have been known to set back large corporations in the tones of thousands or even several millions. For small and medium sized businesses, the cost can be more manageable, as you should only purchase the specific products you need. For example, a sales force automation package can be purchased by itself while other customers may choose a helpdesk or customer service options featuring call center and online support. Basic models can be purchased at a monthly price comparable to the cost of internet services. A number of programs do provide free software solutions or limited free trials with 30, 60 and 90 days for testing.

Are there other expenses associated with CRM?

There can be depending on if you choose a web based or a traditional CRM client. Traditional CRM requires IT resources to maintain and install the software, handle troubleshooting and manage the hardware. For companies that already have their own dedicated IT team this cost is manageable, smaller companies however, could avoid this additional expense by using web-based CRM applications that do not require support staff for maintenance.
